Our Format

Every Monday night up to 18 acts have 2 songs or 10 minutes to perform their original music in front of an audience of peers, music lovers and our weekly celebrity judge. When all acts have performed there will be a short break.

At the end of our break there will be 2 announcements:

1. The winner of our weekly "surprise gift" winner.
(No one knows what the category is until it is announced!)

2. THREE FINALISTS!

The 3 finalists will gear up to perform one more song. From the 3 finalists our judge will pick a winner.

Performers are judged based on these five categories:
Songwriting
Vocal performance
Playing ability
Stage presence
Audience response

Weekly contest winner will receive:

A) Up to $60 in cash

B) An invitation to perform in the grand finalists' show @ The Lizard Lounge (Date to be announced.)

C) Consideration for booking @ The Lizard Lounge Club for a future date.

Sign up:

Doors open every Monday night at 7:30. If the current evening's list is full (which it might be) you may sign up for a future open mic. If there is room on the list you may sign up. You may sign up for your next Monday night on the evening you are scheduled to perform. No performer may be on the list twice at any time.
Out of towners and touring musicians may sign up by emailing;

THE RULES:

There is a $3 cover per performer at the door. Up to 20 acts per night

Each performance must be limited to three players per act.

No effects (i.e., amps, pedals, effects, effects, or effects etc.) are allowed. We provide direct input boxes for guitars and have mics on hand for instruments without pickups.

No drum kits - only scaled down or hand-held percussion is allowed.

Performers must confirm their slot by 5:30 pm by phone on the day of the show or forfeit to a player standing by. 617 256 4527 or tom @ 24hourtom .com

Performers must check in for their slot, 30 minutes prior to their scheduled playing time.

Because "playing ability" is a judging criteria, CD Accompaniment Tracks are not allowed.
